How to learn Apex in 1 hour per week
I just worked with an admin who learned Apex by studying 1 hour/week
Now he can:
→ Write triggers
→ Take dev tasks on the job
→ Create integrations in Apex
Here are 5 simple steps how you can do it as well:
(without sacrificing your free time)
1. Focus on Fundamentals
Don’t rush into writing triggers
Until you are confident with basics:
→ Variables
→ Methods
→ Classes
2. Do volume
→ You can’t solve 10 tasks on Trailhead and expect to become a developer
→ 20 tasks won’t make a difference either (I am sorry :D)
Aim for at least 100 tasks to see first results
3. Focus on topics with the biggest return
Coding is huge. You won’t be able to learn everything.
(and you don’t have to)
→ Example: Learn SOQL, but don’t learn SOSL.
It is rarely used.
You can learn it later.
The goal is to become useful for companies as a developer, not learn every possible topic.
4. Take tasks on the job as early as possible
The problem with trailhead and artificial tasks
→ Your brain can’t make a connection between what you learn and how to apply it
Start taking real job tasks as soon as possible
(you can do it even if you don’t have a job, btw)
5. Ten minutes is the ultimate life-hack
Try this:
→ 10 minutes coding a day for 90 days
You will be amazed by the results.
Start now. Code. Win time back to spend with your family ❤️
P.S. You are a Salesforce Admin, live in US and want to learn Apex without spending years? Reply “FORCE”, and I’ll send the details.
