Changes to this newsletter

I must admit - the “weekly” pace was not really working 😄 Turns out, newsletters are actually very-very hard to write.

So now, I am going to write only when there is enough interesting stuff to actually deliver to you. And if you have any topic to suggest - just answer to this email.

I am launching a Podcast

With the first guess we discussed his journey from Admin to Developer and what challenges he has faced.

The best part - John is most likely just 1-2 steps ahead of you. He is not done with his transformation and he is still learning.

Listen on YouTube or Spotify.

OpenAI GPTs

Basically, now you can create own versions of ChatGPT. The best part about it is that you can upload files and create own actions.

This make a huge difference, because now you can upload your knowledge base into chat and use actions to perform simple calls.

I am currently building one for my course in Apex - let’s see how it goes.

Visualising Flows in VS Code

Todd Halfpenny launched a free extension that let’s you visualize flows in VS Code.

My opinion - I love it. Previously if you had a flow metadata in VS Code and wanted to understand what it does - you had to switch into Salesforce UI and search for it there.

Now we can save this context switching, which is always nice!

Code Builder

Code builder = VS Code in your browser, with everything pre-installed for Salesforce. Now, it’s generally available!

Code Builder is not 100% replication of VS Code though. It lacks some extensions (e.g. GitHub Copilot), because of the engine it was developed.

I was alway quite sceptical about Code Builder. The reason - no sane developer will switch to something browser based.

I still think it is the case, but now I do see a use case - beginners developer or if you are traveling and don’t have access to your laptop.

Thank you for reading! Let me know what do you think about the new style :)
