I am too slow
A student recently got a new Salesforce Developer job in Boston
After the first sprint he reached out back to me: “I write code too slowly on the job. I am afraid they will fire me.”
They won’t. Don’t worry.
If you are in the same situation - keep your cool.
First, no one expects a Junior Developer to be lightning-fast
I asked him one question “How many questions did you ask in this sprint your colleagues?”
“None, I am afraid to look incompetent”
I get this. I was exactly like him.
Here is a thing:
→ Coding follows a non-linear progression

Struggle → Breakthrough → Struggle
→ You see those plateaus?
→ That’s you hitting the wall
It will happen on any level, especially when you are at the beginning of your developer career
So what to do about it?
Two options:
→ Ask for help
→ Go on a walk, and come back
If you ask for help, you can reduce your time with no progress to something like this:

By asking questions
You still going to feel lost sometimes
… and will need to come up with ideas on your own
But you will move 3x faster
And the saved time?
You can use it to chill with your family :)
So go ask for some help!
Don’t waste time :)
P.S. If you don’t have someone to ask for help on development - I have one mentoring slot for July. Would you like to join?
